ABOUT ME

James Harvey Johnson is an award winning artist, named “Texas State Artist of the Year” in 1982. This was followed by a two week exhibit of his work in the state capitol rotunda.  With a 17-year professional career as a wildlife and nature artist, James is accomplished in oil painting, sculpture, and print making (etchings and stone lithographs).

As an avid photographer during his art career, he took up digital photography and is now devoting his artistic endeavors toward producing “Fine Art Photography”. Fine art photography is created in accordance with the vision of the artist as the photographer. James’ photographic interests include landscapes, birds, mammals, and flowers.

The Little Prince by Antoine de St. Exupery, this is the essence of my photography.  One must be in touch with the inner self to capture the essence of a landscape, a bird, or a flower.  Each image on this website embodies this effort.

He prints all of his images using the finest Epson printer and uses archival paper for prints and mats.

James is a veterinarian by education from Texas A&M University and a board certified member of the American College of Zoological Medicine.  James resides in central Texas on his ranch with his veterinarian wife, Alice, a Border terrier, and 25 Peruvian horses.
